Building Bridges to Success: Why Establishing a Sales Funnel is Crucial Post-Layoff
Today we’re tackling a topic that’s vital for anyone looking to start or relaunch their business after facing a layoff: establishing a sales funnel.
Losing a job can feel like the end of a chapter, but it’s also the perfect moment to redefine your path.
If you’re starting a business, creating a strong sales funnel is one of the most effective ways to ensure long-term success.
Let’s break down why it’s so essential and how you can turn it into success.
First, let’s define what a sales funnel is. Picture an actual funnel—wide at the top, narrow at the bottom.
A sales funnel represents the journey your customers take from discovering your business to making a purchase.
The funnel is usually broken down into four key stages: Awareness, Interest, Decision, and Action.
At the top of the funnel, the largest part of the funnel, is everybody. They don’t know who you are or what you do.
You create awareness by reaching by reaching out to them through you’re marketing. Marketing can take many different forms as we’ll discuss in other articlrs, and you get perfect insights inside the Academy & Community
Your marketing then creates interest. They find out general information about what you do and how it can solve their problem. If the marketing is successful, it drives them down the funnel to get in touch with you and act or sets them up for the sales process.
As they progress down the funnel, they decide. Their Decision can be made based on initial marketing or sales, depending on the product or service you offer.
It is followed up by the last stage, at the bottom of the funnel, the smallest part, where the person becomes a client, member, subscriber, or customer.
Understanding what’s happening at these stages is critical to help you map out how to engage with potential customers and guide them toward a sale and benefitting from your business.
It’s not just about making a sale. It’s about creating a system that consistently nurtures relationships with your audience.
When you’ve been laid off, you’re likely dealing with limited time, resources, and maybe even confidence. This is where a sales funnel comes in as a game-changer.
- Focus: A sales funnel forces you to identify your ideal customer. You can’t market to everyone, and that’s okay. By knowing who you’re targeting, you avoid wasting time and money.”
- Consistency: Funnels provide structure. Instead of relying on random marketing efforts, you create a predictable flow that brings in leads and converts them into customers.”
- Scalability: Once your funnel is set up, it can be scaled. You can automate parts of it, freeing you to focus on other areas of your business.”
- Confidence Boost: Knowing you have a clear system can be empowering. It helps you stay motivated and focused on growing your business.”
Let’s dive deeper into the four stages of a sales funnel and how to implement them in your business:
